Dear Parents and Students,

This school year was a very successful one with respect to student achievement at East St. John  High School.  Our iLEAP scores for the 9th Grade Freshman Success Academy rose dramatically in both sections of English/Language Arts and Mathematics.  Our students also made significant gains on the state administered Algebra end of course exams.  The 10th grade students showed gains in Mathematics and stability on the English scores for the Graduate Exit Exam.  Our 11th grade students made dramatic gains in both the Science and Social Studies portions of the Graduate Exit Exam.  For the first time, our seniors were able to earn Academic and Career Technical Endorsements on their diplomas which are the highest level of academic endorsements recognized by the State Department of Education.  Record numbers of students are now achieving college level credits while still attending East St. John High School which gives our students an “Early Start” on their way to college.

Your administrative leadership team at ESJH is now preparing for the 2009-2010 school year.  We have very high expectations as we are engineering our curriculum and providing a laser like focus on student learning so our students will be ready for post secondary education.  An informational packet will be mailed out in a few weeks with news about the start of the 2009-2010 school year.  Contained in this packet will be information regarding dress code, pre-registration, and scheduling.  Enclosed with this letter are the 2009 summer reading list, 2009-2010 school calendar, and the final report cards.  If your child had a debt then a debt notice will be in the place of the report card and then the parent would be able to pick up the report card at school between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. from Monday through Thursday.

Your continued support for high expectations for student achievement is greatly appreciated.  By continually working together our students at East St. John High School will surpass all of our expectations.  I hope that everyone has a very safe and prosperous summer vacation.  If you need any further information, please call the school at 536-4226.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Triche
East St. John High School Principal
