Von Washington and he would also after that send the Star Spangled Banner  I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America into the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all Jose can you see pythons what's that's why I like Through the Never or the ramparts we watched Google the bums cave that I feel like was very sad Star Spangled Banner for the land of the free panda the first thing mr. Nick neck pimple for  blessing us with that and hopefully this board can you go on and keep on improving the school district and also mr. Washington may have the invite you again long as it's not football season but we can go watch the game so I'm Stacy what was Helen Keller Sister Wives it's the Wallace Mitchell is to Trish Vista Pearl 7 present for absence or absence of a quorum to approve the minutes zones Sacramento Sanders I don't number for superintendence report thank you president barrel and again what a way to start off a board meeting by having a disagreed singing of the national anthem let's give him a ceramic wall  you know that's the type of talent that we have in this District give me they come up from all over the place I'm no matter where you go in in the school system no matter what school it is that you go to you find kids with such tremendous gifts and talents that they'll just so willing an eager to share those with us so we just very excited about that so but let me just say that right now if if you have a child is currently in K through then you know where they going through State Testing right now and pretty much through the month of April of your kids will be involved in some form or another a with testing in the third through eighth grade students the high school students they've already taken the ACT test in March some of them will be also taken to work keys assessment coming up and also once we get into me those high school students will be getting those end-of-course assessment so parents and everyone involved in I was very When the Children note in school just as any other day but also equally more important as we wine down the end of the school year we don't stop I'm going all the way till the end so we'll please encourage your children to make sure they attend school every single day one other thing that Dad will be coming up I want to mention and I want to get to these these students out here that have done so well for us at the state literary rally we you know a Dickie to go used to have a program called on a roll Roundup where there was this big event in on the DuPont grounds and they would come fair ride and everyone would come out then celebrate the kids who who had maintained a 3.0 for the entire year and so that faded away and last year we bought it back not to the exact way that it was but we did bring it back to honor and recognize those students who have gone above and beyond and kept their grades up every single of greeting. And be for the entire year so again that'll be coming up again right at the first part of May and so parents you'll be getting mail as home if your students and I'm sure some of these same soon as that are we'll see here tonight will be at that honor roll round up where we have a fun day a fun day for all of those kids involved with working on just making this a great celebration so I thank everyone for coming out here tonight play another president bro let's go continue with the agenda  I remember five education presentation and recognitions by the board or staff a throbbing shaft recognition of literary rally winners and just to remind you of the grooming that we meet earlier thank you mr. president not of a boy members superintendent George what is it gives me great pleasure and honor to recognize the little rallies at the district level for the 2017 school year give you extremely brief break down first of all I'm excited to say we made History 2 years in a row we actually had 40 students who participated at the really that's the most in East st. John High School's history also we made history 21 medals were won at the district living rally held it nickel state February 25th  also we had 14 students who qualify the state which is also the most ever we do not have the official results yet Upstate liver rally however without further Ado keeping my promise we move on now to the business at hand to recognize those students turn up the heat in a rub you missed a shaft but you said two things I just want to make sure that resonates to the audience you said one posting history and most ever just repeat those two things one more time sir yes sir this year he said John High School is more students that participated in and won at the district level in East st. John High School's history tonight we're only honoring cuz we don't have the official results for Staley or rally only recognizing those students those 1 students Dead one at District like to recognize Miss to Nathan Joseph he's in audience he made it he made history as well he had the most music winners in our schools history he actually had seven of the young man whose slow voice in music Javan Washington actually try to do the he did it go fantastic job with the Star-Spangled Banner is he had a first place a district in voice and a good at the state rally I do have the resume youzik to Javon congratulation on that first place mr. Joseph had a team of Trio that's here tonight they won first place as a trio girls the trail a second group of Trio girls finish in third place so we had a first-place single bowl of a low voice that we had two Trio groups that first and third place respectively sat-7 students in music Alone set this time I need someone to help me put the medals on the students and I'll call out the name the students are going to stay confront the semicircle here in the front for a picture after we finish it thank you mr. Farrell said just a couple of days ago and a meeting with the group pastors we need to recognize students not just student-athletes and so I'm very pleased that some of our better students have been recognized here God bless you before we recognize is Mr Claude Hill cuz also he has to recognize some literary rally winners I just want to advise the parents if you can look around there no pulleys and I see mr. Simon in mr. hero so if you Evie child's name it's called you can't scream cuz you may not be able to do it at graduation so dunamis the hill good evening thank you mr. president is superintendent on arul board members  I like the thing this a chef of giving you the brief history so I don't have to cover that part at West St John we brought three students to perform at the district literary rally and five actually place I have those 5 here tonight to avoid them and we went out went to State without further Ado the one wax the algebra 1 he placed third place at the district literary rally Glen grayman third-place Calculus 1 Glazier Walker 3rd place English 3 Rihanna Greymon first place final survey and last but not least Christopher homes first place food nutrition is mr. shaded is it hard to motivate students to do stuff on their day off we had to do District literally on a Saturday we also had to do state literary going to Saturday and to motivate anyone to get out of their bed especially young people is a feet but I'm proud of these young people that they got out of the beds that came to District layer around perform and we also went to stay literary rally at LSU and perform just as well thank you all so much what's the Y what I said for the East Bank sure goes for the Westbank to and air those who say to the West Bank's the best bank of course I want to go on record as saying they're pretty good too where's the gun that won the award smiling at me back in back I got tell you man what I always your age I barely knew what calculators were much less calculus fun soft all of you Auburn V Venus High to try Square School District accountability changes good evening honorable board members and those in the audience I have the distinct pleasure of telling you about some of the changes that are coming down the pipe you know that No Child Left Behind has been replaced by the SSA play Child succeeds act as a result of that Louisiana Department of Education had to revamp the accountability system so as we gets wars in the fall will be getting scores based on the current accountability system but next October October 2018 will be seeing school performance score that's based on what I'm about to tell you the changes are I just wanted and mr. George wanted to make sure that you're aware and as you hear things I can't play that the state Noel repeat this at the end that the state has submitted the plan to the federal government to the federal department of education for their review but you still taking proposed changes as a matter of fact the accountability commission or excuse me the advisory commission committee for the accountability commission is meeting tomorrow and there could be changes as of tomorrow but what I'm going to present to you is what was presented to the federal government for their review so if you don't mind I'll refer to the PowerPoint in the corner know that with esse some of the changes that are coming down what unique to what we'll be doing in Louisiana for accountability is unlike other well similar to others in the past we will always want to raise X chains for a student's and we want to make sure we try and catch our students up to the rest of the country part of it that's a blessing is that they're trying to reduce end-of-year state sing a big component that I'm a talk to you about this evening is how we're going to recognize growth for all students that's actually going to be now part of the score in the past law 1 students who are most of your students generally and accountability did not earn a diploma they were only allowed to earn a certificate of a so now under the new law they can actually leave high school with a diploma what acid is also going to do is give targeted funding to students and who's that are most need and then finally and I'm going to talk to you about this there's a new part of the school performance score that's going to encourage districts in school who provide enriching experiences to our students as well so basically the way it's improving improving is let it setting those expectations really high right now if the school is a or is an a that means the majority of the students are basic and above well what's happening in this new law is we are slowly progressing wearing a school will be students scoring Mastery and above and that you will get minimum two knows no points for students who are schooling basic II big adjustment is that they're going to Value progress so we have made progress last year we have targets that they have set for us 40% of our students made progress last year they may or may not have hit Master advance but they what progress so this is actually I think going to benefit us and then finally as I told you before they're adding in interest in opportunities as part of the score so if we provide that they're going to give us and help us develop a way to make us accountable and develop a formula to give us points for that so basically what you see here is the current Formula when I stood before you before elementary schools that would be West st. John Elementary that do not have 8th grade or 100% test scores so whatever they make on the leap develops their SPS score and then they could earn 10 points in progress the majority of our elementary schools besides West st. John Elementary have 95% test scores and they have 5% which is Dropout credit accumulation index what they basically look at and hopefully this is just a reminder so I apologize if I'm repeating for you but what that basically means is that it students going to high school and it asks how well did that Elementary School school prepare them for high school and they get points for the number of credits and 1/9 achieves at the high school when they leave that elementary school so this is how it's changing you'll see on the left this would be the comprable piece for West Saint John entry now 70% other than not unlike the one hundred percent will be leap scores 25% is going to be that growth where they look at the kid and say they came in at this level you grew them to this level and so you now get points for them and then remember I told you they were going to mpoints to schools for developing interest in opportunities for students and that's that purple piece of the pie that you'll see when you look to the left you'll see it that means give me the you seem very similar for K to 8 schools but 65% will be the lead test 25% will be the growth in next how how much we've grown it student in that year 5% will also be that DCI or the Dropout credit accumulation index and then the same 5% for interest in opportunities  for high school and I apologize is the contrast is not well but the contract that the high school is basically stay the same minus or adding in that interest in Opportunities part of the pie that same purple so right now we get scores we get points for EOC scores we get points for act and workkeys we get points for strength of diploma in other words did they earn dual enrollment Advanced play that kind of thing did end until hard graduate graduation rate did we graduate them within 4 years of them reaching High School on the right you'll see the difference and really the biggest difference there is we get growth status for EOC so did they grow longer they were with you in high school and not just did they score on that LC or that end-of-course test and then it goes to interest in opportunities  so growth is the biggest thing we will longer have progress points so where schools can earn points that add to their purse cool performance cord that is going away now it's a progress they're looking at gross index which is the progress of the students make so how do they check that well on one hand the first question they ask is did add student meet his or her growth Target that's basically with all that says we want them to get to Mastery or Advanced are they on track to do that by eighth-grader if they don't meet that criteria that give you a second option would you see on the right how did they compared to their peers across the state and they set it in terms of the characteristics of that child if that child is only free and reduced lunch they compared that child to other students to adjust free and reduced lunch if that is free and reduced lunch and special ed they look at both of those characteristics and so on and so on according to the percentile that they rank that's where we would get the points for that Chow should I give you two opportunities to earn growth so here's an example this is Carson Carson to 3rd grader he ended up scoring a 675 if you look to the left side of the slide to get to a Mastery he has to get a 750 so if you take 675 from 7:50 in five years he has to grow 125 points so they divide that by five years he has to make 15.2 a year Well poor Carson the only made 13 points so question 1 did he meet his 15 points no but when they looked at him compared to his peers across the state Hebrew 13 points which was not that 15 or wherever he was in the top percentile and so we got full points for Carson that's what an example looks like and that's going to be fully part of our growth they are keeping that same SPS range that you seen multiple years bed scene SPS range with head since 2012 they're going to keep that going however remember I've spoken to about a perv they're going to keep the same number a b c d f schools so depending upon whether scores fall they are going to change this and prove it to put more schools in the a range of end of schools make in a on their own and actually tomorrow that's a big part of that conversation they are actually as of a conversation I had this afternoon thinking about actually maybe even adjusting it by 10 points so a 90 may end up being an A but again that's all in process so by the time this airs it may be totally different play better in conversation with it so here's how it basically is going to go starting with next year and I've underlined the keywords there's going to be a modest I know the words that basic might not be 100 points anymore but they're not going to make it a zero they're going to maybe give us 80 points for a basic by 19 2019-2020 they're going to determine whether more adjustments need to be made and basically determine if it should be Turner ended and by 2025 we will be fully into a student who does not earn Mastery will get zero points so Mastery is a Target by 2020 and so basically this is the three side-by-side but I'ma give you just a little information on that purple piece of the pie that's the interest in are tuna tees in Miss mr. wise might like this basically what they're going to do is incentive eyes schools to offer and of underlined it in that second paragraph for you what day would consider a well-rounded education both in Elementary and high school that means Visual and Performing Arts foreign languages technology keeping up with the current standards co-curricular activities that could be anything from academic to athletic to other special interest so the timeline at the bottom is this year that kind of collecting data and over next year the next summer they're going to figure out an index for measuring that progress the following after that we're going to start tracking it but it's going to be made public but not really part of the states yet and then in 2019-20 it's going to be play added in SPS so that gives us an opportunity to continue to build our programs and all of our schools  so basically the timeline is that we at set at the beginning it's been approved by Bessie and sent to us toe the accountability commission is still meeting and making changes so if you have any input and you've good things that you like or don't like you welcome to put in your two cents on that and then finally we are not waiting for a final approval I am pleased to report that I met with all of our elementary schools and plan their masters schedule for next year I'm particularly for k-25 we have embedded academic intervention and enrichment and all of those schools so that students who can or an able to stay after school get it during school but also we don't just intervene for the students but we accelerate for those kids that are high does remember every child counts in growth so if you're coming in at a 7:42 we still have to get to to a 150 so that counts and so we were provided that additionally we have worked with all of the principles to provide High School Carnegie units all the way down to 6 played so our students in three years from now when are sixth graders go to ninth grade they will have an excess of six to seven kornegay units before they even start high school thank you very much  what are the charter schools can follow this two of the Exempted from all of this because they get funding from the state of required to follow that as well how much your first time in a long time just why so there are some elements of this that I like very much I am really disappointed that the state still adopt the arbitrary letter grades that says that  you have you can compare one school to another for example to have stop pointing any fingers of Fifth Ward Elementary could Advanced 20% and its overall test scores and it still don't be an egg but if McMain Magnet or other limited admission schools it's two points or even lose half a dozen points they would still be in a so when this growth Index this is going to help the lower-performing schools because then they're going to get 25% recognizing and I agree with you I'll put on I don't like the letter grades either cuz I think it puts a stigma on a school that done this other deserve it at least they're building into the formula that growth substantially improved from one year to the next can get no credit for it whatsoever even under this new system it does because twenty five percent no is coming from that growth so if they grew then they're going to get the full 25 points off the bed they're starting with 25 points and then depending upon how the student score it really it's replacing progress points but it's giving them more across-the-board I would say it again you cannot compare a school in in St John the Baptist Parish with limited funds and limited availability a school in a very wealthy Parish that has all kinds of money to throw into its curriculum and yet the state expects one to what's the other and it's a ludicrous proposition I can care thank you  okay well I kind of want to turn on it because which I think Miss Wise is making valid points but throughout the past couple years would alarms in all the trials and tribulations that we have went through the you can studded instead it to increase our testicles and now we had a b diss and hopefully would miss Tara Peppers or prayer I'm saying hopefully before the night we can see some type of move it but we can move in Direction and like mr. wires always saying who want to be the first in the state so hopefully we can adopt something he'll make us the first in the state in your model with a sticking coming to St John Parish and start the front of our Direction comparing apples to oranges Merrick Gulf Coast life skills organization good afternoon everybody I'm to be able to present to you a wonderful organization that has been working with Saint John the Baptist parish as you know our district does not just focus on academics if it make a shirt the whole child is taught and developed and when important part of it is social skills while we are a b District we don't want to forget that when Skip Beat District without our students behaving well and knowing how to conduct themselves in the classroom the organization that I'm presenting tonight is called golf deals nice skills training organization and I'll just want to give you a brief history of the organization and we have some members here it will let you know what they've been doing with our schools free the life skills training program is a nationally and internationally use Substance Abuse Prevention program based on 30 years what scientific research this highly effective program as been proven to not only help students to resist drug Youth and risky it also has been proven to increase self-esteem develop healthy attitudes and improve knowledge of essential life skills please to service all of the organization is please the service all elementary and Junior High School grades throughout Saint John the Baptist Parish at no cost to the school system I am pleased to present to you tonight we have mr. Willie Green who is the regional director of Gulf Coast services Social Services we have missed Alicia tubes who is the regional prevention coordinator from South Central Louisiana human authority and we have Miss Sandra Horne who is the retired educator from St John the Baptist Parish one of my mentors when I first started teaching and she is also one of the individuals who I communicate with I'm going to about this program so without further Ado I would like this organization to come and give you more information on the wonderful work they have been doing without schools evening evening members and also Miss Merrick it's my pleasure to talk a little bit about the life skills program and we are so excited to be here tonight and also in the parish but we are excited to be in the schools because we got a chance to see and work with the children each day and we know what time port and preventive education is we're so glad that Miss Griffin has always shared vision of preventing preventive education today I'd like to introduce the facilitators first alpha sil are the teachers to go into the schools they have Reverend out and Preston was here and I'm a facilitated to Sandra horn I don't think I'll other facilitating Jocelyn gastral is another facilitator and also Mishary Al Lewis you know that this is funding this is a free program for the parish I've given you all a copy of the curriculum that we use sixth grade on last year we win the school's working with only 3rd and 6th grade students and each student receives a booklet like this to help them with self-concept to help them with anti-bullying and assertiveness training so they'll be able to resist black and violence if they ever encounter it but we know that that's that's a sure thing sometimes in life but also this year we play with extended not only from the 3rd and 6th grade we've added on fourth and fifth grade and some Junior High classes too so we are very thankful that you all have allowed us to be in the Parish of course the two agencies that's that's support us financially or the Gulf post  Social Services in mr. Willie Green is the director he's going to tell you a little bit about that program and also the preventive Regional director from slasher pictures part of the state department Human Services development program is Alicia tubes thank you all so much for letting us be a part of this wonderful educational opportunity  good evening my name is Willie Green I'm the regional director for Gulf Coast Social Services where nonprofit organization I'm the regional director for the Houma region and New Orleans which actually covers this area as well and we partnered with South Central Louisiana Human Services Authority to offer this program in the area or we're surveying I think close to 1700 kids this year and I have MS  today and she's going to give a little more background on the actual services that are offered in the program and I also brought some brochures to discuss some of the other programs at Gulf Coast Social Services offers thank you evening  my name is Alicia tubes and I am a registered prevention professional and serve as a program monitor but the state of Louisiana and South Central Louisiana Human Services Authority in the area of prevention during the 2015-2016 school year South Central Louisiana Human Services Authority contracted with Gulf Coast to provide an evidence-based outcome-driven prevention program to the students in the River Parishes intern contractor facilitators to implement those lessons within the schools as was already mentioned is someone in mister mister Preston among others the purpose of life skills prevention program is aimed at reducing high risk behaviors and consequences associated with Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drug use while promoting health and personal development this is achieved by teaching knowledge and those necessary to increase self-esteem increase students abilities to make decisions and problem-solve communicate effectively anxiety stand up for their rights and resisting peer pressure just to name a few General coping skills during the 2015 school year facilitator delivered a total of 11220 services to approximately 1122 students that included both Elementary and Middle School Engrade raging between third and eighth grades at schools and camps located within St John and St James Parish  an identical is administered at the beginning and the conclusion of the program in order to measure any changes in student skills attitudes or knowledge over the is the program's implementation the pre and post-test assessment measured seven key areas address throughout the lessons student participants in scales consistently demonstrated games and maintenance of favorable scores and program related knowledge life skills and general coping skills favorable perceptions of the harmfulness and wrongfulness of alkotob Alcohol Tobacco and marijuana use will reflected in the assessment scores across the ministration of the program the scores remain strong at the program's conclusion indicating a positive understanding of the harmfulness and finesse of using these substances the scores demonstrated that Gulf Coast was successful at applying life skills training to increase students awareness information related to the realities and harmfulness of tobacco and alcohol a full report is available I do have that anyone interested in that please contact me I do have some business cards I will leave with Miss Merrick and I will be glad to forward that to you guys and I did want to take a moment to thank you for allowing my agency as well as the agency's we work with to come in and to serve the do hints and we look forward to many more years of of working with the students in st. John and st. James Parish and I did want to thank Miss Horn Miss Merrick and Mister arrested for working with me to get this accomplished  and again thank you very much had a question two things in did a chill working on life skills  when are the groups being held in is it at home or are you holding will you have on the students all talking about that the goals and long-term goals that are  in these books no sir the lessons are being taught within the school day when this children are actually in the school setting and the reason that is done is because historically we've learned that it's better to deliver these message on the universal level simply because children are just afraid to speak out and say that's happening to me at home so delivered on a universal level even if they don't speak out a raise their hand a lot of times they can just take the message and where that from their standpoint on their comfort level so they are delivered within the school day in the school setting when did I have counselors coming in to administer these groups that's required by the program they are trained from Gulf Coast and then they go in and deliver my agency provides all the material necessary as well as the planes in anything else Alcohol Tobacco yes sir are y'all doing anything to address the epidemic of opioid use in prescription drug medicine that's helping happening right now in the community is designed to get certain Target Saints the area of opioid use and prescription drug use actually is being addressed by a different program that I work with and I'm part of as there's a coalition and that's the Louisiana partners for success and we are actually working within the federal dollars allowed to us to bring that information to St St John Parish currently however it is not through the life skills program it is through a different program this program does Target drug use the whole use marijuana on an age appropriate level the lessons are the same starting out with the elementary children who 8 lessons in a pre and post-test and then as it grows the lessons get more and more in-depth age-appropriate obviously to a point when they reach the sixth grade level the lessons are now 15 lessons with the pre and post-test information what time is it possible for you to reach out to the people that are doing with the prescription drug and the opiates because we're seen a rise in it and it's pretty much all over the country and we're learning that the first prescription drug medicine and went in starting to address is at home when you're finding it the cabinet that Dammam me have it and just left over so if it's possible that you can maybe reach go to those people and see if they can also try to implement it also I think that would be very helpful also since he's here within the River Parishes they are located on gotcha  on Belle Terre Boulevard and do have Services here within this area currently and like I said the program that I'm working with besides life skills is fixing to address the prescription drug you send abuse were in the process of creating that media campaign now play post test that indicates that things are better understood during the course of a year do you have any linear studies that low that it still has an effect by the time of kid gets into high school is there any evidence at all that this program is actually beneficial to Mid and Lee age teams their life but I understand how it's designed I'm asking if you have any evidence that it succeeds space program and that's what the pre and post-test do it shows their level of harm in my not answering your question write what I'm asking is is when you start teaching this thing in third grade is it still effective in 10th Grade I have any evidence that I'm not complaining about the Broderick free we're not paying for it but I just want to know if there you have any long-term evidence a longitudinal that shows that it remains effective or 50% effective or 5% effect the show that absolutely I talked with several people from dare and we have done dare here for a number of years in conjunction with the sheriff's department but at least on an turn the level there has absolutely no knowledge as to how successful the program at it is over a period of time the programs that we implement or paid for by federal dollars we have to be able to show that there is a percentage of success and that's what the pre and post-test show and each year that is given to show that the program that the children receive that year and obviously if each year shows that the program been successful then we look at that as longevity however there is other studies called the caring Community youth survey that's given with schools and these programs cannot be implemented unless that survey is allowed to be given and that is another survey that I have access to that I can share with you but I don't suppose that there's any way  that mister Pearl knows that the people that come before his port in his judge whether or not they have gone through a program like this that's what I want to know is it effective as it reduced the number people who appear in drug court that would probably be some records yeah I doubt that there is because it's toots soup two separate agencies but I think there needs to be some kind of a study that indicates this program is more successful than that program anything that we can do to prevent it and make students wear because we have to come with with technology right now you're more advanced than we were when we in school for you so I think the earliest that we can make students aware of the dangers of what's out there probably more beneficial to be free one  I just wanted to share there's a website and we like our Jones I don't have no lawyers today any objections  well roll call boat numbers  plus this is the last time I'll speak up tonight please make sure you know did please probably turn this Michael I am concerned and unfortunately I was up in Baton Rouge another meeting in got here a little late and don't have my copy of this with me but I'm a little concerned about the GBA contracts and Sation from what I could read and it there is nothing in there that requires the compensate of the contract to have specific goals and objectives for a teacher or an administrator or anyone else who's under a contract to achieve during term of that contract there are General goals and visions and so on but there's nothing specific that says that this department accomplish this by this date and that's one of the things that the only one I can think of off the top of my head but that does concern me the only way set the school board has any Authority at all any longer over the people we employ is we come to contract and I've asked the superintendent all ready to put contract with the board before they're signed so that we can look at them what's that bothers me that we don't have any specific objectives for a principal or for a vice principal or friend buddy else achieve during the terms of a contract that's not accurate on every principle an assistant principal or any of district-level Staff in the administrator has what's called some have student learning targets but within their evaluation they have to in the beginning they set goals every year what in and they're rated on how well they've got into those goals as far as this language is concerned happens is every everyone has a generic contract by by law which is the arteries go through that stuff make sure it complies with the law what also happens is this board approves job descriptions that has no need the different job descriptions that people must comply that the in order to do the job you have to be rated on all of those different job descriptors but sides that you also have an evaluation where that person did the direct all of my direct reports are evaluated by me and all of our dish level supervisors do have direct reports and they evaluate they sit down with them at the beginning of the year setting goals midterm Google's goals adjust and then at the end of the year get a full evaluation so while it's not in the inside of this contract did it does happen if I can respond sir and with with respect and I frankly think you're doing an excellent job selecting and evaluating people but my point is that the board has absolutely no controls whatsoever over our and while you may set goals and objectives each year with these individual plans there's no way us as a board to determine whether or not they're being made that's all secret that's that is not available to us or to the general I think I would prefer to see that and this was brought up in another national meeting I attended to stop that we need to have an input into the contract and that input being settings goals and objectives of that a principal just as an example May well have generic objectives need to know are they expected to bring literacy up by 5 Points are they expected to bring the the tests school performance score up a certain percentage so that we can evaluate to how efficient they are look like Pages chomping at the bit to respond to that as well so when you do 2 year contracts for system principles and principles we are expecting the assistant principals and principles to write of Jack based on student performance okay and it relates to their school performance alright so that does change throughout within that can you hear. What a principal wrote a performance objective for this year will not be the same for next year and under the guidelines for evaluating all employees such as principals teacher's assistant principals you're giving them the opportunity to look not that performance objective at Major with their evaluator and make adjustments if necessary so it is a process sesameplace all right but it is not necessarily part of that written contract because it is changing the two-year. record at least I do that the goals and objectives that are promulgated as a part of the conversation that have is every year are ambiguous they're not specific that we can weekend in a even a two-year contract we should know specific goals and objectives that are to be accomplished in that two-year. And there's no other way for the board itself to determine whether or not these folks are performing up to expectations and so I'm just saying that to me we need to have a review of art of these contracts before they are signed by either party and that each country should have among other things specific goals and objectives that the board has input on  stop this Mitchell and then miss the color I have a quick question for mr. George this mom student learning targets for administrators are they written with you or with your input that's the first question in the second question is I'm not sure I return it or not here but is it possible that we get a copy of those student learning targets and I think that would suffice with what why does asking cuz at least we'll see what the goals are even though they can be adjusted year at least we can see what this particular School leaders goes are for the yes so one of the direct reports like all of our principles of Miss trosclair and dr. Perry has done a phenomenal job this year of working with with the school with the community with the board to to put his vision into the school and one of the things that is going to help us to get to that vision is this change of Interest requirements that we going to ask you guys prove tonight so without any further due is two pair  thanks man and I like to just before I can store to just to say that I just appreciate the for that we've gotten so far and I appreciate the autonomy the superintendent has the school into so before I have a 2 minute presentation I know the time has been well spent but I guarantee that 2 minutes is timing but I'm very passionate about about about stem about science technology engineering and math and I just believe it this is the great time for this to happen at garyville and and and you know I just appreciate you guys support So a magnet school is a thriving Magnet School design to serve two purposes of my pain and first purposes it's designed to benefit the district as a whole and is designed to have a is it impact on the community in the location and would you serve so in terms of a math and science Magnet School know this program is we wanted to program for parents who have kids who are talented in math and science and wanted to be an outlet for those parents who have those kids who are able to go above and beyond in math size no apparently have a kid who you know is under 3rd grade and and it's performing a math on the 5th grade level we have to have programs District programs for then and that's what the mass Science school is for but we also want to have programs for students and parents who want their kids to Excel and science SOL a true Magnet School of Driving magnet school is one that slates with programs that are designed to I guess to cater to both of of students to to give those parents who have those students who are a talented what they need and to give those parents who want their kids to strong in math and science to give them what they need and that's what we're trying to do a garyville  a middle school program a magnet program is the lights with blood technology and I know you'd appreciate that mr. glass cuz I kind of heard you mention that at the end of your today  your wpst St John the Baptist Parish Public School television check it out
