you're watching wpst St John the Baptist Parish Public School television check it out a phone call of the president to send John the Baptist Parish school board meeting regular session Emily C Watkins Elementary 938 La Highway 618 West Louisiana on Thursday August 16th 2018 at 6 p.m. you know I will have a call to order in a vacation by iresident pastor pastor barring any will now have the after that we have to pass it all right please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance Roku Miss Holden. Wallace burrow and present what happened July 19th 2018 Miss shop I have a number for superintendent report I would just like the same it's been a long summer this summer we've done a lot of work at all of our schools as I see some employees in the audience tonight they can attest that you know from Air Conditioning work two Roofing work two buildings being a renew to refurbish and building it's been a summer unlike any other we've had so much work that has been done and it was thanks to the community for supporting this board and see supporting these kids that we are able to have the funds the money to bring the upgrades that are necessary for all of our schools we want all of our schools to be great schools beautiful schools that anyone can be proud to send their kid so we're excited about the work still some things last minute things that we are finishing up and there and there are some ongoing projects like the roofing project that garyville and roofing project in 5th Ward those things are going to go on through throughout the year and should be finish January February but we are excited that we were able to get these things in place so that I kids and out of teachers can be in buildings that are awesome so one last thing before we move on with the rest of the agenda gave to the board and I just want to highlight a few things for our you know audience you know we did this school year we are going in with you know what I priority I wrote it and iPad 2 that was in the local paper this past week and it's it's a focus that we have to approve our schools we this is I'm a former athlete former coach and I don't like I never I think I hate losing more than I love winning and right and so you know in this beginning my 6-year here is superintendent we had a year it was our first year that we didn't improve and so we have a new Focus we have a new sense of urgency and I District to make sure that we are doing everything strategically possible the improve outcomes in our school system you know people with no comment okay but I tell the one we talked about children it's never okay and we always are trying to push to be the best that we can possibly be you know even though we've had that that you know the highest rating that we have ever been in St John the Baptist Parish ever we are not sad I am not satisfy my staff is not satisfy and they can tell you when it is when the school Year's happened when it began it's been wet for 5 days now hitting the ground running I have never seen more organized School the opening of schools and I've seen this past school year I was just sharing with some people on my team just walk through East st. John High School in winning I want to see all math classes and let me tell you something those teachers are teaching. attentive and we're talkin about this is about day number 6 or 7 and but we are hitting the ground running because we have no time to lose but just talking about our priority Focus you know we the thing that we have now cuz the state is constantly changing standards this constantly changing the accountability formula the constantly changing what I keep the teachers at the teacher what I kids have to learn and it's very difficult as the school system to not get into the you know the negative talk about all the different changes that are happening because if I'm complaining and if I'm upset about this than that fees off to my staff and I can't have them upset I got to have them problems I got to have my teachers teaching no matter what it is no matter what happens at the state level we have kids coming to our classroom on how to improve instructional outcomes and learning outcomes for our children so just very short I file fraud and you hear us talk about this this entire year high-quality curricular resources we have to change the region does the standards have changed and now the state is tearing our curriculum so we want to make sure that we had the best we talk about Gold's Gym Prue student outcomes you will hear your kids come home talking about how they set a goal for their particular classrooms we talked about monitoring student progress how we going to bench more take these tests throughout the year periodically throughout the year what are we going to do with those results collaboration that's a huge thing for us we believe that the teachers are the experts and we have to empower them to make those decisions in those classroom when you put those dishes together put them together they can solve any problem whatsoever and the last thing I always say is where the rubber hits the road is observation and feedback what's happening in that classroom what feedback are we giving teachers going on the days of observation will be coming in to say hi I got you I'm doing this right no we here to say hey you're doing this well unless to see how you can improve upon how your teaching your children so it's a nature and a culture of support so with that said I'm going to turn over back to the board president for the rest of the agenda Miss Trish the salt when your third year of the golden silver car program and I just happen to have to a very special people stay there next to me 4% this to the superintendent how many years have you got this i got this car when I was in high school and I've been out of high school 21 years as well received this car when I was in high school but I'm not going to tell you I will how long this week what makes it so when you see the students who actually achieved something and you may have to spend just a part of their life and I will ask them to east side of this when I give it to the Super kind of mine just after I give them this year is full cord Pacific or the can't use it cuz you're not in school anymore so would you please pretend it to the superintendent you have to say something is presentations not soliciting where's my car first of all thank you for giving me this go-kart I will share it with Dr Keller as we you know maybe attend one of these places to eat so we get us some ice cream I appreciate it thank you Jesus thanks to start the first of you to help me do this Miss Marcia Trish Miss Marshall could you please stand up you look give a round of applause Patricia good to go animals personal matters yes mr. president bro there's a list in front of every board member that has all the new hires well for the year that it's in your packet I'm serving a mixed feelings about me monthly budget to actual siding is for information only nothing significant has happened since you adopted the fiscal year budget but you do have to get it monthly so maybe the next couple of months will have some major changes but as of now nothing significant Adam be mixed feelings about an authorized Administration in a request for proposals for employee substitute staffing service right we've been approached about company interested in giving us a proposal for employee substitute Staffing and it looks like there's a potential for number one cost savings and number to efficiency so I think it's in your best interest that we explore it and I think we can do it through the RFP process so recommended employees substitute Staffing Services motion on the floor by misterwives II by mr. Jones for the participation board members Jones miss about D share with the board in the public why are we authorized ignition what do we have problems with the current number in Lucedale for interested in doing good Louisiana and they kind of looking for a feeder program test-pilot type thing and it if they can deliver on their promises and we can have significant cost savings and increase efficiency see what I mean increased efficiency they can arm Supply Subs at a higher percentage in other words right now we feeling at about 80% and they said they can get us to 97 so instead of just one company my suggestion is you just doing all your what else is out there so we're going to do it with the other company where we going to see what happens during the RFP process we doing our pea soup and tuna to put together a committee to evaluate that are dirty and then give you a recommendation thank you why nope not yet tell me what as you'll remember this board has for years and years I insisted upon competition any time we spend money we want to spend the money in the best way possible. At least expensive and to get the most bang for our buck so you need to to make request-for-proposals rather than automatically renewing virtually any contract so well I'm certainly going to vote in favor of this I always believe in going out for bids or for propose anytime a contract is up for Renewal now as I understand the current contractor can continue to compete for this that's correct but will not be guaranteed the renewal that's correct roll call Miss Holden Trish sobral exemption program for nalco company phone advice of counsel is premature at this time so now I'm waiting to turn the motion to table this item until it has been approved by the state can you buy mr. Of the four years of expansion of the original contract term will be 4 years with an option to extend for V & Beyond that it will need to be a renewal for the school to operate beyond the fifth year as of the execution on Tuesday the school still hasn't identify the location but we do have a in the contract that would be located in st. John the Baptist parish and it's our understanding that they have the site selection narrowed and it's our belief that them having a firm contract will help them obtain at least for this building and we will see I feel that into the exhibit to the contract when we get it but at this point where I'm ready to recommend approval of the contract in the authorization of of President Pearl to sign that operating agreement tonight hey by mr. George yes I'll present Berlin audience please bear with us we you know we just bored or has a general statutory Council that Council has made a ruling and I know this boy it's not going to not listen to this statutory counseled we we will definitely review with them and to see if there's something we could do differently but tonight we're going to follow the advice of statutory Council because that's what they're here for but my place superintendent ice and matter fact this is not the first time that this has been this item has been brought today's board we met in reserve I want to say to two months ago when it was presented to the community about this item so this is not the first time nobody leaves and I spoke to that an opportunity do it the meeting and discuss it man I'm the public my name is LaTanya Creasy and I agree with her I think it's simple as this if there were kids here and we were trying to set an example as adults you just resolved if you can't hear them whatever he said I'm sitting right there I couldn't hear him when he told you all that I didn't understand it so the solution is to give him a mic so everybody in the room could hear it of the board heat understand before or after I read the item I need to have public comment and then have the person who's going to present with the item present that was told to me some instruction silliest thing I have ever heard and it's not us I'm saying we're just following it would think if y'all have any issues I would direct them directly to the DA's office on tomorrow but it's not Parish School Board is doing yes it is okay it will it will be done I have a comment and I think I at the floor yes if a policeman tell you to go and Harvey and Harvey and Associates Realty if the police tells me to go and the light is red I must follow the policeman if the council has told the president to do something he must do it so thank thank you president Burrell wife it's been an eventful board meeting at so the Life program is a program but I'm glad that faster bearing is here because he played a big role in getting this grant to us this grant will help us the service kids at Fifth Ward Elementary School what elementary school is our most struggling school it's at school with the the lowest school performance score in this District so when we asked for help and reaching out for many folks help Pastor bearing bought us Reverend Hunter out of Baton Rouge who was a longtime educator who work with the Department of Education for over two decades to bring a program to assist the kids if Fifth Ward Elementary School and as a superintendent you know that is something that I opened a welcomed with open arms because that's what we're all here for everyone up here on this days has believed they want to improve education for kids and what this grant does is provide us money to have after-school tutoring from September through the end of next summer summer of 19 but it's not just tutoring it is strategic tutoring it is through data it is a specific process that it will be 10 kids to one teacher and that one teacher knows the weaknesses of those 10 key in their classroom and is going to instruct them to move them from one level 1 achievement level to the next achievement level so I implore this board I do believe we do have a legal clearance now to approve this so I'm blow this board to I recommend approval on this item motion made by Mr Sanders second mom is Mitchell board members mr. John High School to West End High School to ride the cost of one bus which is a centralized location public comments mr. West wise I'm just implicated tonight on the board on his there one present tonight in legal that can provide me a copy of the bylaws that indicates that missed the ride mr. Let's go to Fifth Ward bottom line is when this happened with 5th Ward it was not not say this one before what's not the School in the yard but we took off and I'm going to use your phrase here income that is disgusting we have to stop saying that we have to stop when you care so much about 5th Ward and their kids like that then put the teachers there that's qualified and everything else also I got to go to daycare and Dupont the children are still there we care about all what you'll do we not doing what we need to do is that Ministries assets here and collect all that information and hold on to it we're not doing nothing with it but yet and still you come to us when it's time to put some money out there Transportation wise we don't have enough buses we don't have enough drivers my granddaughter got left on the bus today put on the wrong bus I don't know what happened but I'll find out tomorrow bottom line is you're not communicating we probably could have talked about that stuff on there but it was in the newspaper where was supposed to be based on the law and what it's supposed to be we don't know what's going on till we get here so how can we get up here and talk about in the action on anything we let you guys do it now we're talkin about taking 1750 more children out of the public school system to put in Charter School oh by the way I thought they were going for a type 2 good afternoon my name is Jermaine robiskie I'm from the Westbank I have been a participant of St John the Baptist Parish School System for nearly 50 years served 35 years as a teacher at West st. John High School I spent the last 13 years of my retirement working for St John the Baptist Parish School System anything that I have ask to do I've done it my biggest problem is looking at a board that says back and not pay attention to what is actually happening I have done research for the last fight 5 years since mr. George has been here and I can give you a list of things that he has done this afternoon the minister asked us to get rid of all of pettiness but I have not seen that and I am the pointed from mr. becnel as the superintendent down to mr. George this has been the best that I have seen in all of the years that I have been a part of this parish and the thing that bothers me is that we don't concentrate but what is really important I can tell you you can go to West st. John High School every child beer who is mr. George and they can tell you he's our superintendent very seldom very seldom have I ever heard these kids mention superintendent because I don't care what we asking to do for our system he tries to make it possible that he's there that he is showing that interest the only time we don't see him is when things have been before him and made it my two minutes but I don't care okay I am sick and tired of having excuse me okay some of the things that needs to be concentrated on not being done and if you want to see the things that I pulled up like I said before I'm going to tan your crazy and I like a person that keeps documentation now I have all my documentation to anything that I'm about to say now I'm not here to say whether I believe you should stay or whether I believe you should or I should be extended or not because I feel like the superintendence before you we didn't show up to say nay or yay to that why is it that now we can come and we can say to you I think I know the answer but I'm not going to say that right now but there are things that I have concerns about and I just wish the board members and the superintendent pay closer attention to because I was able to be in the system as a parent and as a professional the number one thing we have MHP Mental Health Professions that are in this Parish in the Mental Health Professions were put out of the system sometime I have a lot of stuff up here but sometime before but it took exactly 6 days to get the Mental Health Professions out of the school system from coming in now st. Charles and st. James had it where you come in during electives or else you have to come in during electives in St John just had it wide open now mind you I subbed in st-charles before and going to st-charles and after stopping in every school here and then stopping at every school over in Saint Row it's like two different worlds that makes no sense and that means that we're sitting in between two different parishes that are doing a lot better than us but we're the bigger city or the bigger town I don't understand that I'm not from here but I've been here long enough where I'm paying attention to this as a professional and as a parent I have been disrespected by staff and wait I was on the mental health profession think it took exactly 6 days for administration to come up with for not letting Mental Health Professions in anymore and I am led to believe that that was because of me because there was a meeting with one of my students and I asked the person to give it to me in writing that I cannot be in this meeting with my Hawaiian and I kept on sending the emails to him and that was the well the Child Welfare professional and he couldn't give it to me I sent him three different emails nobody could give it to me in writing and I I am now on this where parents I'm going to leave the parents are being disrespected they're being lied to and they're not being told the truth and I think that the board members need to get more in touch with their districts there people in the districts and see what they need instead of just being here and holding the seat and not contributing anything to the meeting because there are only four of you to actually speak and I'm not talking about the new ones that came on but they're only for that actually speak and you can't use that I don't come to the meetings cuz I'm here I be here since Isaac and I'm paying attention to y'all and I've been observing and there's plenty other stuff that I have to say but I can't say I'm now because I want somebody else to come out this week just like to put on record that the two minutes from what I can see in the policies is not accurate is actually 5 minutes so I just wanted to let everybody know that that record straight the chair has the authority to say time limit since we're going to be here a long time Jared has the authority my name is my name is Gary both of them a local Pastor here at Mount Airy st. John Baptist Church I've been the pastor for 28 years send myself a community leader I've got about twenty one years and and activities in our Parish in central Paris as well as a Chaplain I see him all over the place I've been coming to meeting with Mr George when the Gorge breakfast is for the Ministries and we sat down he gives us time what are you doing for the kids how's our schools doing compared to other parishes he said we making progress and that's good I tell you something seriously Paris Hotel in homes reached out to the churches and try to get the home he's fixing our church of Yolanda come in I think the man has done a tremendous job and our kids get involved in ROTC is not what you talking about that he's doing a great job in st. John Parish God bless I'm Reverend bearing and I thank God for giving leadership that these children could be tooted and what this board have accepted tonight I want to add that our church the Bethlehem Church had been instrumental in implementing summer enrichment programs we have implemented stew referral sentence we have put together Multicultural libraries I've served as Pastor in this community 30 years at one church and 20 years after the other I stand to get tonight thanking God for the leadership and the vision of mr. George's contract yes I'm in favor of it and I'mma tell you why you have some that is actually visible in the school system board members I can actually point out the ones when they are functions going on you have no clue so hot can you judge or stand and say or sit and say on one man opposed to an entire board so the thing is when you looking at the student yes charity starts at home so you expect one man to direct the entire body so if you're going to give him a chance give him a chance I mean he's doing exactly what he said supposed to be doing as a superintendent I commend you on because it's many superintendents that said there was still there or walk there but you couldn't see him in the school system I'm sorry if you have a concern you need to show up there and speak out there not ask for the board all of you need to be more active in the system and that's all I have to say cute my name is Paul Henderson and I had two sons that graduated with in the school system within the last couple years and I also served as the PTO president for five years at East Saint John high and I'm very involved with the students even to this day and my son are both in college I just want to say that my sons grew up in the school system from kindergarten and there has never been a more visible superintendent in the school system than this man right and I'm just going to say that I'm a parent I've seen him at all events I've seen him shaking hands with students kids like this all the way up to 19 year olds given the motivation wisdom I mean this man is involved in the school system now whether you like what's going on you can't but like the young lady just said Stacey you can't blame the issues all of the issues on him work together as a team I have confidence in you all elections are here you either have a seat next year or you don't but you can't blame this all on one mat I think she's done a tremendous job and I vote for you to stay my name is Radio Morris Charles I went to all three of them was the worst graduation I ever witness it was a clown show and the superintendent was ain't going to mall I talk to some of the school board members after the kids the schools are failing if I come to your house and I do some work and I do share that work what you keep me I won't you let me go you said you might be my friend but I don't like what you doing here so if he's your friend fine but the bottom line the school grades overall have been failing so if you got a football court and it fell in and you're not winning you run him off this school out of 9 School had seven principles turn around you ask yourself why this school have the highest teacher a turn around and it's not because of pain because out of 64 parishes your number 10 you got 54 schools that pay less than you so why are they leaving ask yourself everybody ask yourself if not because he laughs with you it's not because it's because of educating the stool and right now I give him a failing grade the state giving your fail and Greg and I said time to move on and we need to try something else thank you you want table this will be bought on this item but anybody else didn't get feel that they need 3 more minutes I will give you those three more minutes alright what can we do Street and one of the things that I'm seeing is that it appears to be a power struggle where retaliation and intimidation is being used on the staff Administration and I don't think that that's working with the administration's more out as far as I'm concerned I'm thinking we're supposed to be setting an example for the children so what you would do is I'm thinking we're supposed to be doing is keeping those especially those who are native to to St John Parish especially and then I'm hearing a lot will you go on remind you go to St John top you go to St John whatever whatever all these little sites that they have and that's the main thing that you hear a lot of people talking about last night at the meet the meet the Wildcats it was really nice and I haven't been clear in a couple of years but it was really nice but the morale is down compared to what it was before Isaac I would like to get it back to the way it was but it's not going to get back to that level or fire until we stop, until adult stop concentrating on power struggles and that's what it looks like it's hurting our system the power struggle you I'm hiring you because you do that's why I want I hear it's not because you're qualified and I don't understand how we had two principles company in that were sought outside of the parish and they both came in for certain particular rolls and then one left one was for Less Than 3 months that was the height this my at my kids I've ever been in my kids are on the honor roll they're not behavioral problem kids and my kids love that principle but that person was gone Less Than 3 months and then my question was since there was a big thing for people who are at the school board meetings in the school board meetings that was the hottest was the one where there was a big thing about somebody who got let go because I did not know what the super did and that wasn't comments when the parents are sitting up there having the same meetings themselves because they don't know what the president is doing so to me it's something that the adults are doing here and one of the examples is what just happened here done that we that we haven't done that in 20 years or we've never done that before but you know what now I'm seeing or I'm reading and learning what the DEA is saying when she shows up at this meeting when she shows at the Paris me what she is there for and I think there's a problem because all the board. The parish board and this board you're used to doing things the old old boys and that's not the rule if you pay somebody then you should be doing what they tell you to give you legal advice and that's what I'm seeing is the problem in both and if the head ain't right nothing at the bottom is going to succeed and that's the way I feel thank you and Harvey again I'm glad that I owe no man woman boy a girl anything I have no friends and I have no enemy to punish I say to you tonight if you feel this superintendent that sitting in front of me is not worthy renewing his contract have you gone to him to tell him what he's doing wrong did you make suggestions to him as to what he needed to do to improve himself check yourself first when you go and look at the bean and somebody else's eye you better look at that two-by-four in your own no one is perfect on this Earth and we'll never be the only one who wants perfect was Jesus Christ there will be no other Jesus Christ in a human beings flesh so there is room for error with all of us so before you throw a stone remember please remember that you live in a Glass House 2 what we going to do on the advice of counsel he said that we were possibly going to recommended that he have allow people to come in and have 3 more minutes but I'm going to cap it at 7:20 so we have 10 more and then we're going to end problem discussion and I'm the discussion I'm sorry the discussion that has come from the body that's far suggests that there are various measures that the Board needs to look to if the board is not already looking to them to indicate whether or not the contract should be renewed I've heard from the audience and I agree that mr. George's address to the school board members since I have an audience with you today I want you to reconsider your position with reference to the kids at Fifth Ward school I think it's an issue that has been put Thunder Rob I think you need to revisit it look at the latest statistics something needs to be done in the school board it are the people who should be doing it I don't know why we haven't been able to reach the ministerial and get them involved but these kids are being bombarded with these chemicals and we need to get them out of that school at fifth water thank you yes alright every hour first of all I want to say thank you to everybody you braise some very good points things that need to be considered votes of people who strongly supports the superintendent and people who are having a couple of problems I want to bring this to your attention we are we don't have to vote tonight on whether to renew his contract he has another year remaining on his current contract what we're trying to decide and tonight is a part of that is weather to extend that contract or give him notice that we're not willing to extend the contract which would give him and the board a chance to go out to find someone else either way his contract does not end until the end of the coming school year now with that being said mr. president I'm going to do just as this lady suggested I'm going to be tabled it I ever stop I understand but if I may continue there doesn't seem to be any more for the comics and is my item so I think I probably and I need to go ahead on it now may I sent what I was saying after this lady is fun good evening my name is Robin Bailey and I too have had two children to go through the school system I was once the PTO president of East John prior to miss Paula and then the president at West Saint John as a very involved parent I will say our parents and our schools need to get involved when we have meetings is very hard to get parents to come out to the schools it starts at home first okay I heard the comment about the low income area it doesn't matter how much money you have if you can learn you can learn it starts the parent I was appearing who made sure that my children could read and write you understand I would go to the school and speak to with the teachers so that I could learn the type of teaching style that that so I can bring it back to my students to partner with the schools I challenge everyone in here tonight to go back to your school district get involved with your school's when there's a PTO meeting go out come back report how many parents showed up that's where we need to start at thank you may I complete my thoughts may I complete my thoughts sir I think God then let me let me let me complete my fault if I may and that is that we have not completed our evaluation of the superintendent we where did that during our Retreat this last week we allocated only an hour and a half for it and like the Good attorneys they are they made us stay with the agenda and so we did not finish that job I think what we need to do since I'm not allowed to make a motion just yet is table this complete our evaluation come back and boat in an open session just like this on whether or not to assure him that he will have his contract renewed or not but this is neither the time in particular nor the place let us hear what you said and continue our evaluation which has not been finished and then make a decision that will be answered do you folks thank you best friend clarity so every single employee every single board member dead complete that was hospitalized every single board member has completed any valuation mr. George has received the copy of our evaluation and we all have received each other's the evaluation so I understand whatever and every On The Other Board member understands evaluation that I have given with the recommendations so I just wanted to clarify that we only had an hour and a half for discussion but we all have completed it we had three week. The completed and a timeline to turn in it's been completed and we have seen each other's answers as well alright with that being said I want to apologize to mr. George me trying not to be like Trump and be a president of the board cuz I've been divorced since 2007 this is the first time there's been a public forum where as we actually discussed the superintendent's contract either and it was mistakenly rolled over are we just playing but we've never done this before so I try to do this in July I initiated the timeline I wanted to have the meeting to have two executive meetings have the retreat discuss it at treat so tonight we will be able to come here and have an informed decision that didn't happen so but with that being said I'm going to make a motion that we spend the superintendent contract 5 months and during this. Burrows motion from from mr. bro I'm not exactly understanding your legal question are you asking when does a 9-month extend till vintage contract ends on June 30th 2019 the board has to have to tell the superintendent by September 1st if we take no action on his contract it's an automatic renewal of one year that's right well can we make a motion Don Market extension can't wait and we is that at all I mean I don't know why I'm asking it need be better off with the window action Lisa's got 12 months this is at the discretion or the board make that determination the reason why I did the process we need to change some things in there for as far as one time right now we have to give him a whole nine months in advance knowing if we tell superintendent charge it September 1st that we want hiring do we honestly expect him to do any work for the rest of the school year so we want a shark and a you want to show also I'm saying with the contract now that we want deliver was we just had some people come up and talk about deliverables goals and all that and said we need to put that in the contract we want to change the evaluation process so that's the whole reason why we want to go ahead on and come up with a new contract so we can put those deliverables in there put those objectives goals and objectives in there Miss Mitchell to clarify just to clarify and giving that particular time some of the things that we did at the retreat evaluation and noticed that the evaluation needed to be a little bit longer so we are devising a new evaluation system for the the superintendent as well as if you were teacher you have a growth plan so we also want to devise a girls playing with actual measurable deliverables with checkpoint and again those are some of the negotiation today we will begin tomorrow if we vote on this contract tonight so just because we we vote on the contract yes or no it doesn't automatically roll over things business-as-usual it allows us to have some negotiating tools to be able to say these are some. was that were expecting and out with some timeline as well as it gives message or the opportunity with his legal counsel to back and forth negotiate so we still have to come up with a reasonable solution with negotiation but we can't even begin that fishing without a yes it would be pointless for us to pay attorneys to negotiate if we are not going to that's a waste of taxpayers dollars if we're going to negotiate a contract and not executed so I think here we're trying to say let's execute and then we'll negotiate the terms thinking about you Mister why thank you just one quick part and I'm going to first of all say I think that's our Ride Board president I've said that several times in public and in private job and I would vote for him again if I had the opportunity will have to see next November who has that opportunity but be that as it may you can't extend a man contract until the middle of the second half of the school year if he leaves us at that point we will have not nearly enough time find a replacement and by then all of the best people will already be taken we ran into that once before about 10 years ago when there was an effort to if you will get rid of a superintendent in the middle of the year in the middle of the second half of the year the second semester and it turned out that we could not find any qualified applicants who were worthy of hiring and so the last thing we want to do is extend this until March either way should go with what exists there currently which is a one-year extension or we should inform him that we are not going to renew his contract neither of them has to happen tonight but be that as it may Middle Ground which I'm usually very much in favor of just doesn't work under these circumstances. I am a professional educator and typically what happens most superintendent principal positions open up in March or April so that you finish out the school year and you do some observation and you're ready to hit the ground running on June 1st it just happened in Jefferson Parish and unfortunately they took some of the results what happened in Jefferson Parish principal superintendent was named March early April he was on the ground by made once testing is over school is just about done and he boots on the ground and started hiring people June 1st so that when all this comes are ready to rock and roll pretty much what happens at the public note we're of our strength as well as weaknesses within the district and we are working and prove that I am in support of extending mr.
