John Elementary but the board is is my staff and everyone around in this entire communities to understand that things are going to be different at different sites because we have to give every student every individual what they need in order to be successful and that's the process that this board game going through in order as we start at beginning to allocate resources to schools you have to make sure that we're doing what's right for every single child is not an equal system as an equitable system so as I what you have to set your tables audience it's up here on the big screen you know why it kind of created an equity journeymap basically started where I began that process 18 months ago in to where we are today and you know I am canceling on Summer additional Equity statement the basically state that st. John the Baptist Parish will provide everything to every child to ensure that they are successful in every field of human endeavor that's a tall tennis easy to see but when you look at the face in the audience they don't deserve any less they don't deserve any less so as we begin the process you know I look at that point that says lesson learned Lessons Learned you know I've learned a lot from my colleagues it was 12 was in this process Educators from around the state all around the country scuse me and we could write a lot about what we learn from one another but what I learned is that it takes this it really begins with a courageous bold and almost defy attitude that says I refuse to accept the way things are and we'll fight vigorously to make a change and I'll shoot as lions there's no way to gently begin that conversation can ease into the conversation but he must be with conviction and without apologies because that is what I kids deserve you know I picked up a phrase it says convenience and conviction do not live on the same street they do not is if you have conviction for open you can't worry about being convenient to anyone again we are in the business of education and our kids deserve our best and we must put that best foot forward so with that said I wanted to begin I thought there was no better way to begin Black History Month first meeting in this bullet room to start with basically an announcement of initiative saying that the school board will work to become an equitable School Board I know that sell school board members this week at $10 and Equity conference we had an equity presentation doing a board retreat so this board is committed to being the Equitable board and that's going to create better outcomes for students thank you thank you sister Jean George move on to the next item and you just mentioned that several board members did it 10 or Equity conference I'd like to acknowledge must have bro for securing a grant for a member to attend this Equity conference this week started Tuesday at goes until Saturday and it was basically Framing and effective discourse about Equity so in Unisom with the superintendent we all are working toward to achieve the same goals thank you I don't Vibe educational presentations and recognize recognitions by the border staff comment on 5A benign item 5 a.m. recognition of teachers earning certification the school year misurina do good evening initiative approach to the national teacher shortage Indonesia Reeves work to create a work force and reduce the number of uncertified teachers in our classrooms some of those initiatives include and on sites in Parrish person plexus support group I teach tuition for those who need their enrollment criteria reimbursement for past Praxis test next week the HR department will begin the critical shortage process for any retirees would like to come back into the classroom for the time we also started a recruit a teacher campaign we're teachers who recruited certified teachers are paid stipend if they remain with the district for a. John as a permanent sub and it was there I met Miss do she saw my potential my drive location in my compassion but more importantly she said my vision of becoming a certified teacher sometime later we both went on to a new job location but I was based at LaPlace Elementary in Providence she became available and st. John the Baptist alternative school opportunity I reached out to his do in the HR department she informed me about the position qualification requirements and she assisted me and you didn't Criterion so that I can become a paraeducator whenever I wanted. Ever I wanted more of this profession my passion my love was not being met like it was when I was a substitute feature so I again reached out to the one person I knew will point me in the right direction let's do she began helping me with no hesitation after compiling all the necessary paperwork and complete no quietest I became certified as a business teacher it was a process but it was worth every minute I would like to take this time to say thank you Miss do I will stop believing in me to share my vision and my passion for seeing my love for this profession I encourage others to reach out for her assistance I'm confident that she will help you find an evidence that will help you become certified I love my student I love making different I love teaching. This is my vocation thank you I had no idea she was going to stay that and if I ever need to be introduced please answer the introduce me anywhere wherever I need to go thank you so much Brandy I really appreciate it when she came into our school when we needed a teacher and she took that class all like her own and when she goes through his head right off the reel for subs and she came in and made that classroom a classroom I'm so in seeing that I knew that those are the people that we want in our classrooms that she cared she kept great record she held the students accountable she did a great job even though she didn't hold those credentials at that moment when the opportunity permitted and when we have those vacancies those are the people that we wanted and power to go in touch the rise of our students because their hearts are in the right place and they're doing the things that matter most of our students so thank you all George Visser thinks of President Sanders the one thing I will say to those folks who started off on certified congratulate that's a lot of hard work while you're working going to school and doing everything else you have to do with your family's I started off to uncertified teacher work you know what did everything you guys did in order to get that certification so you can begin can Joker is so close to you guys it's very easy some folks just like to just sit and don't want to get certified I don't try to be certified because they always think a job is going to be there but you guys are taking the initiative and I appreciate Chevy one of y'all going out then we'll cuz it's not easy as nothing easy going to school all day at working all day going home at night trying to study and do this  and your family but you did it and we appreciate it.
